Let us tell you al little about ourselves.

What is Obasi Originals?

The word Obasi translates to "in honor of God" in the Igbo language of Nigeria, West Africa.

Obasi Originals was established in 2016 as the conduit to showcase the original works of art by Omiladé "Aisha" Adédìran. Since then, she has expanded her business to include private commissions, increased artist exhibitions, and her online gallery Obasi Originals – the home of her creative works and healing services.

Armed with a deep appreciation for culture, the pieces I create reflect my lineage, my upbringing, my current perspective and my dreams for the future. Each work created intends to visually express emotion, thought and memory from a cultural lens.

Obasi Originals design mediums range from mixed media paintings to 3-dimentional sculptures. Consistent themes and key elements that define the creations are cultural expression, imagery, representation, and knowledge of self. This is expressed through designs that use bold, vibrant colors and the combination of natural materials (metal, clay, glass, wood, stone), in which their properties serve as grounding elements and guide the designs as they develop, adding to their distinctiveness.

Omilade’s body of work is a diverse collection weaving together the breadth of her cultures past, present, and future with the culminating goal to offer the viewer a new transcendent experience.

Who is Obasi Originals?

Meet our founder Omiladé Adédìran

Greetings. I am Omiladé. I'm also known as Aisha. Either is fine.

I grew up in Dallas, Texas (Oak Cliff to be exact, hello!). I attended university in Austin, Texas (Hook 'Em) and I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a daughter of a giant, a wife, a sister, an auntie, a priest, an engineer, an artist and a lover of Africa and her descendants.

To summarize myself in a few words is a difficult feat as my passions and interests vary greatly. I've always been creative and have a hard core passion for math. I love the practical and the mystical. I can am a fine dining food snob and I also enjoy cooking over a campfire outdoors. That said, my “career” has been as a Structural Engineer for over 20 years but I am also a facilitator of healing, a visual and musical artist and avid survivalist.

The Divine creative force lives within us all and there are times when that force is so loud, that we MUST express it. I visually express it because art allows me to unleash the colorful richness of our experiences and who we are: then, now and those to come.

It is freedom.
